Abbreviations

Here is a list of abbreviations commonly used in my patterns.  I try to keep them consistent, however, depending on if they are independently published or published by a website or magazine, they may vary.

Beg    - begin or beginning
BO     - bind off
Cm     - centimeter
CO     - cast on
Cont   - continue
Inc     - increase
K        - knit
Kwise  - knitwise, as if to knit
K2tog  - knit 2 stitches together
K3tog - knit 3 stitches together
Lli       - left lifted increase: Use your left needle to pick up the stitch that is two stitches below the first stitch on your right needle, knit this stitch through the back loop.
M       - marker
M1      - make one: increase one stitch, via your preferred method
M1l     - make one left
M1r    - make one right
P        - purl

Pm     - place stitch marker
Pu      - pick up
Pwise - purlwise, as if to purl
P2tog - purl 2 stitches together
P3tog - purl 3 stitches together
Rem   - remaining
Rl1     - right lifted increase: Insert your right needle into the stitch below the next stitch on your left needle, knit this stitch.  Insert your right needle into the next stitch on the needle (the one above the stitch you just knit), knit this stitch.
Rm     - remove stitch marker
Rnd    - round
RS      - right side
Sl       - slip
Sm     - slip stitch marker
Ssk    - slip 1, slip1, place these 2 stitches back onto left hand needle, k2tog
St(s)   - stitch(es)
St st   - stockinette stitch
Wyif   - with yarn held in the front of work
Wyib  - with yarn hend at the back of work
WS     - wrong side
W&t   - wrap and turn
Yb      - yarn back
Yf       - yarn forward
Yo      - yarn over
