Blawl

I have been knitting, I promise.  It is slow going this winter after knitting my brains out this past Fall.  I have had the pleasure to test knit for Trisha again and I am very excited to share her new pattern, Blawl.

This blanket/shawl (Blawl; get it?!?) is worked seamlesssly from the center out in a simple stockinette pattern.  It features a pretty, but not fussy, contrasting lace edge.

I used Elann's Baby Cashmere in Cream, Staright Blue & Claret. I have been saving this yarn for just such a project.

I am going to knit another but haven't decided on colors yet.  There is a Knit-A-Long set up on Raverly (membership is free!)  I will definitely participate and I hope you will too :)

This kind of works!

For a very special little someone, just not sure who yet :)

Autumn Road

Autumn Road Tunic

This sample is actually my prototype!  It is close to a size 4 in the pattern and Scarlett is 5.5yrs here, so it doesn't have much ease. It cold comfortably fit a 2 yr old as a little dress.

The sleeves are puffed a lot more in the pattern than in this sample.  They feature sweet little garter stitch ties.

A-line shape, with increases on either side of the front and back sections are fun little details.

The buttons and holes are located on the left front raglan edge.

Description:  “The Autumn Road Tunic was designed with my little girls in mind. They love stripes, lots of colors and fancy details like puffed sleeves and ribbons. This cute little tunic is worked seamlessly and flat, from the neck down and then joined in the round after the buttonholes are worked. It features raglan shaping, gathers along the sleeve caps, and increases along the front and back panels. Sleeves are kept short and are gathered at the cuff where garter stitch ties are worked. The neck edge, hem and cuffs are worked in garter stitch with a contrasting color to add a pop of color. The striping pattern is optional and is great for using smaller amounts of yarn.
“The Autumn Road Tunic is sure to become a go-to favorite!”

I began knitting to pass the time and soon, my sweet niece, Belle was born. She was named after her father and my brother, Beau. Belle is a beautiful little girl with a sunny personality and loves playing in her Nana and Papa’s garden. What perfect names for these cute little cardigans born while waiting!

Seamus Pullovers at Petite Purls

Seamus

Description:
My little ones love to collect rocks, dip their toes into the bay, roam and explore and are always in need of a cool pullover that can withstand their adventures.  Seamus is the quintessential summer pullover with two  nautically inspired stripe patterns & semaless construction making it quick and easy to knit during the warmer months.  While the little ones are busy collecting & investigating, the sleeves can be rolled up and buttoned in place so as not to interfere with their activities.  This classic unisex pullover can be passed down to younger siblings and will continue to look loved the more it is worn.

Sizes: 3 months (6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 4T, 6T, 8T, 10T)

Rating: Easy to Intermediate

Techniques & Stitches Used:  Knitting in the round, basic increase & decreases, carrying yarn up for color changes.

Yarn Requirements:  Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Worsted Cotton
                                    400 - 700 yards - see pattern for details

The sleeves roll up!

Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Worsted Cotton is SO soft.  I am not usually fond of knitting with cotton, but this was an exception :)  It has resulted in extremely soft and wearable pullovers which Levi and Scarlett love...

Treefort Jacket Pattern Release!

Treefort Jacket Pattern

Sometimes, patterns just "happen".  You start knitting a little something for a friend, then take a look and think, "Hey! This is turning out better than I thought! What a fun pattern this would make..." And there you have it; a new pattern is born :)  This is precisely what happened when I started knitting my first Treefort Jacket.

Work in Progress....Treefort Jacket

A simple pattern that I am working on finishing up right now: "Treefort Jacket".  It is actually a gift for a friend that turned out pretty cute and fun to knit :)

Worked from the neck down, the Treefort Jacket is super easy and a great way to use up leftover yarn! It has raglan shaping, minimal amount of shaping, overlapping front closure with buttons. Hood is knit from the neck up & garter stitch button bands are worked by picking up sts along the fronts and hood.

Rated beginner; great way to learn new techniques, sich as, kfb, seamless knitting, picking up sts, provisional cast on, random striping.

Options for long or short sleeves & random striping using leftovers or 4-5 colors of yarn.
Pattern ready for testing in a week or two for easy spring knitting :) PM for details :)
Sizes Available for testing:
3(6, 12, 18)months & 2(4, 6, 8, 10, 12)years

The gory insides, not yet cleaned up :)

Preview - Lord Loxley Pullover

This pattern is now available for purchase!

Lord Loxley Pullover featured in Knit Issue 40.  Something fun that I worked on over the winter :) The issue isn't released until sometime this week, I believe, but it was exciting to see the preview!

What a cute little model! I wonder how hard it was to take his photo while he was moving? I bet he moved alot!

Yes, front cover :)  That made me smile :D

Lord Loxley is knit up in Rowan Pure Wool DK; very nice soft yarn to work with.  It is knit seamlessly, in the round, from the bottom up, raglan sleeves, v-neck & hood.  The cable runs up the front, up the back and over the hood.

A fun element to this pullover is that the sleeves are detachable.  Much more versatile, especially for children who need something warm in the cooler months.

Sleeves have snap tape and they snap to the inside of the sleeve cuffs.

Lord Loxley is named after my little guy, Loxley; always on the move and such a great source of inspiration :D
