Union Suit - Children's Pattern Release!

Union Suit - Children's Sizes

“Based on the one piece long underwear worn for the past century in the America’s, the Union Suit is a classic outfit that is designed for comfort and warmth. It features seamless construction with raglan shaping, a front buttoned opening from neck to gusset, a backside opening with buttoned flap, a roomy gusset, tapered arms and legs & twisted rib cuffs. Approximately 4” (10cm) of positive ease allows for comfort and room to grow.

“When worked in soft wool, the Union Suit is the perfect outfit to wear in cool weather or when camping. The butt flap is functional and eliminates the need to completely undress when rushing to the outhouse.

“The Union Suit is sure to be a favourite go-to garment for all parents and children alike!”

Levi is 9 years, wearing a size 10 years.  He still has plenty of room to grow!

I used Filtes King Delave Superwash yarn (for obvious reasons!) and it is a worsted weight yarn, knit at a tighter gauge. This helps the weight of the suit to not stretch too much.  There is 4" of positive ease, but if you prefer a more snug fit, to possibly wear under clothing, then you can use the size down, working fewer raglan increase rows, and lengthen the sleeves and legs.

Happy Knitting!
