“Toadstools & Tadpoles” is a whimsical baby set including a cardigan, bonnet & booties.
The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the bottom up with a toadstool border along the bottom (either done in intarsia or duplicate stitch), and a “tadpole” cable pattern on the body. A cable is worked at the same time, along the front edge and incorporates buttonholes.

The bonnet is worked from the forehead to the back and then seamed at the back. It features the tadpole cable pattern and toadstool brim as well as an i-cord tie
*Please note that the bonnet in the photos is on upside down.*

This pattern was alot of fun to knit!  Everything seemed to flow very smoothly and before I knew it, this little set was born. Many thanks to Kate & staff for their wonderful communication and making it a joy to work with.

The Toadstools & Tadpoles Baby Set is appearing in Knit Now, Issue 10, which I believe will hit the UK stands June 28 and then later for the rest of us :)  Subscribers have already started receiving their issues!  In the Fall, once the rights revert back to me, the pattern will be available though the blog, Ravelry & Craftsy.

Happy Knitting!

  1. Beautiful design! I chuckled aloud when I saw that the bonnet was pictured upside down -- it still looks good. Really good. And I love that the style is wisely forgiving -- surely there will be lots of people who accidentally put clothes onto babies backwards and such.
